Over the next 12 weeks we will introduce you to some of the craft breweries involved in this year’s beer festival. It’s our chance to show you why they’ve been selected and share with you our honest reviews of their beers. Some of the beers have been chosen because they demonstrate the brewery's house style. Others are to showcase different types of beer that you may have not seen at the festival before. This year we will be offering more variety and delving more into the craft brewing scene. The actual beers pouring will be subject to change but each brewery showcased will have beer at the sessions between April 23 and 25 at the Courthouse. So without further ado, our week one showcase and review is with Verdant Brewing Co.

The Brewery

Verdant brewing co.

The brewhouse that makes fans of American-style IPAs go weak at the knees. Formed in Falmouth by homebrewers Adam Robertson and James Heffron in 2014, Verdant firmly put Cornwall on the UK craft brewing map. The brewery specialises in hop-forward, fresh and juicy small batch beers that are intense and full bodied. Verdant's popularity has bloomed in recent years thanks to the quality of their beers and their uncompromising approach and they recently raised almost £1.2m in a crowdfunding campaign to quadruple capacity with a new brew site and tap room. If you're new to Verdant, Knutsford Beer Festival is a chance to see what all the fuss is about.

The Beer

Neal Gets Things Done, 6.5%

This flavour-packed IPA features four of the powerhouse hops of modern craft beer: Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin. So it offers a hop saturated bounty of tropical flavours including melon (a Verdant signature), pineapple and berries as well as notes of pine and even a bubblegum-like sweetness. It's rounded off with a slightly dank finish which keeps bringing you in for another sip. Delicious and bound to be a hit among any 'hop heads'.
